Chinar Rustemova met with the head of the coordination department of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network

On November 10, the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Chinar Rustemova, met at UNESCO headquarters in Paris with the head of the department of communications, cities and events in the cultural sector of UNESCO, the department of coordination of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and the UNESCO Cities Platform (UCP) Dennis Buck.

At the meeting, the results of joint preparation of the process of nominating Ashgabat to the global UNESCO Creative Cities Network were discussed. The parties also identified measures to strengthen the overall process of implementing new projects in this area.

According to Dennis Buck, the inclusion of Ashgabat in the Creative Cities Network will contribute to the further development of cooperation between UNESCO and Turkmenistan in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Chinar Rustemova thanked her colleague for organizing a training for designers, architects and developers of Ashgabat in November 2022, which provided the opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for professional development.

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO is in Paris to participate in the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO, which takes place from November 8 to 22. On November 11, the list of memorable dates for 2024-2025 will be approved at the session. The date selected included the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, proposed by Turkmenistan.
