The Russian Foreign Ministry is developing amendments to legislation aimed at significantly expanding the capabilities of the electronic visa system. According to the statement by the director of the consular department of the

Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexey Klimov, in an interview with RIA Novosti, it is planned to increase the permitted period of stay of foreigners in Russia on an electronic visa from 16 to 30 days while maintaining its multiplicity.

In addition, the department is working on extending the validity of the single electronic visa from 60 to 120 days. According to Klimov, these changes should help increase the flow of foreign citizens arriving in Russia for tourism, business, humanitarian and guest purposes. At the same time, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the proper level of migration control and all requirements for ensuring Russia's national security will be maintained.

Let us remind that on December 7 of this year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to expand the list of countries whose citizens can apply for a single electronic visa to enter the Russian Federation. The updated list includes Turkmenistan and a number of other countries such as Barbados, Bhutan, Zimbabwe, Jordan, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, and Eswatini.
