1. The delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation headed by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin arrived on an official visit to Turkmenistan. Within the framework of the official visit of the delegation, meetings are planned in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The parliamentarians of Russia and Turkmenistan will discuss new formats of cooperation in order to develop bilateral relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan condemned the armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a result of which there were dead and wounded among the staff of the diplomatic mission. “Turkmenistan declares the inadmissibility of attacks on diplomatic missions and the use of any violence against the personnel of diplomatic departments”, - the Turkmen foreign ministry said in a widespread statement.

3. Issues of cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral relations were discussed within the political consultations held in Ashgabat by the delegations of Turkmenistan and Germany. During the talks, the diplomats stressed the importance of maintaining a regular dialogue between the foreign ministries, and expressed mutual interest in continuing the dialogue in the field of the human dimension.

4. Delegates from all regions of the country gathered in Ashgabat to participate in the regular VIII Congress of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan. The delegates discussed specific measures for the further implementation of the State program in the field of youth policy of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, as well as amendments and additions to the Charter of the Youth Organization, taking into account the new edition of the Law of Turkmenistan “On State Youth Policy”.

5. Representatives of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute have estimated how long it will take to melt a large glacier that recently broke away in Antarctica. Scientists have found that the iceberg will last for several years before completely collapsing. The area of this iceberg is about 1,5 thousand square kilometers. However, experts are confident that the separation of the ice block is part of natural processes and is not associated with global warming.

6. Hong Kong roboticists have created an analogue of the T-1000 robot from the “Terminator 2” movie, which can switch from solid to liquid. According to the creators of the transforming robot, they were inspired by the ability of some ocean inhabitants, such as octopuses and sea cucumbers, to change the density of their body depending on the circumstances.

7. Spain will lift the mandatory mask requirement on public transport on February 7. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Spain Carolina Darias at a meeting with journalists. Spain is one of the last countries in Europe where the mask regime is still in effect.

8. The first and only curling section in Turkmenistan was opened in Ashgabat. The curling department operates on the basis of the Ashgabat Winter Sports Palace. Currently, boys and girls aged 13 to 17 are being recruited into a professional junior group. Trainings are supported by the Curling Federation of Turkmenistan, which in 2020 received the status of a temporary member of the World Curling Federation.

9. Ashgabat “Migration” became the champion of Turkmenistan in volleyball season 2022/23 among the men's teams of the major league. The team achieved this success under the leadership of the Turkmen specialist Hakberdi Soyunov. The tournament was held in two rounds - from October 2022 to January 2023. The second place in the championship was taken by the team “Nebitchi” of the International University of Oil and Gas, and the club “Milli goshun” of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan closed the top three.

10. Turkmen judoists will take part in the “Grand Slam” tournament, which is to be held in Paris (France) from February 4 to 5, 2023. Turkmenistan will be represented by 10 judokas at the tournament. A feature of the competitions in Paris is the use of five tatami mats, which permits them to be held over two days. It is expected that 552 athletes from 85 countries will take part in the upcoming “Grand Slam” tournament.
