The Embassy of India in Turkmenistan organized the Indian Film Festival 2024 in the city of Turkmenbashy in honor of the centenary anniversary of the legendary actor and director Raj Kapoor. This was reported by the press service of the Indian diplomatic mission.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy hyakim of the city of Turkmenbashy Maysa Guljanova and Indian Ambassador Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat.
In her speech, the Indian diplomat noted the impressive development of Indian cinema over more than a century of its existence, emphasizing its significant contribution to the spread of Indian culture around the world.
The festival program included not only screenings of popular Indian films, but also an exhibition dedicated to Indian cinema. A special highlight of the event were the performances of local artists who presented both Indian and traditional Turkmen dance numbers to the public, which emphasized the cultural interaction between the two countries.
