The issue of establishing sister city relations between the city of Arkadag and the city of Maisons-Laffitte was discussed the other day during the meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to France Maksat Charyev with the mayor of the city of Maisons-Laffitte, honorary member of the French Parliament Jacques Miard. The meeting was also attended by the President of the “France-Turkmenistan” Friendship Association, Mr. Christian Burdey.

The city of Maisons-Laffitte is located 19 km from Paris and is known in France as the “city of horses” because horse breeding is developed here. There is a hippodrome with the longest straight line in Europe, as well as stables, training bases for racehorses and a bronze statue of the “Ptolemy” horse.

During the conversation, M. Charyev informed the mayor about the construction of the new city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan, which will become one of the largest cities in the country. It was noted that along with numerous infrastructure facilities, the Ahal Equestrian Circus, the Horse Breeding Research and Production Center, the statue of the famous horse Akhan, included in the Guinness Book of Records, as well as the International Equestrian Academy named after Aba Annayev, will be built in the new capital of the Ahal velayat.

Taking into account the above, and also that the city bears the name of the National Leader of the Turkmens - the hero of Arkadag, who pays great attention to the preservation of the purity of the Ahal-Teke breed and its international recognition, the Turkmen diplomat emphasized the importance of establishing sister city relations between the two cities.

Mayor Jacques Miard supported the idea of establishing sister city relations and stressed that this could contribute to the development of close and long-term relations between the population of cities, the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France reports.
