At the joint meeting of the chambers of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan held in Ashgabat, a decision was made to establish the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan as the highest body of people's power. The powers of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan include consideration and approval of proposals for the adoption of laws in accordance with the Constitution, making amendments and additions to them, determining the main directions of the country's domestic and foreign policy, as well as exercising other powers provided for by the legislation of Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was also recognized as the National Leader of the Turkmen people, was appointed Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.

3. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a message to the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with wishes for a speedy recovery in connection with the operation, as well as health, good spirits and energy. Former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, 82, underwent heart surgery last week. It was held at the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center in Astana.
