The chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented to his Russian colleague Valentina Matvienko the Turkmen women's jewelry - tumar following the talks in Moscow, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper today.

In addition to aesthetic, tumar has long also served as a talisman that brings prosperity to those who wear it. This type of jewelry is made by Turkmen zerger masters from silver with gilding and inlaid with carnelian and turquoise.

Tumar, which is an indispensable part of the general complex of national women's jewelry, is characterized by the rigor of form and ornament, the filigree of engraving, and the proportionality of all decorative elements. These decorations were also intended for children. Thus, they accompanied their owners throughout their lives. From time immemorial, the Turkmen people have been very careful about these amulets. Thanks to this tradition, passed down from generation to generation, unique, unparalleled samples of ancient tumars have survived to this day, which can now be seen in the collections of domestic museums.

Thanking for such a wonderful gift, the Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament of the Russian Federation presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a work of fine art - an original painting depicting autumn in Russia, the transformation of Russian nature at this time of the year.

Let us remind that the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan is on a three-day official visit to Moscow at the invitation of the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. On the first day of the visit, the heads of the upper chambers of the parliaments of Turkmenistan and Russia signed an agreement on the establishment of an inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation. On November 2, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will make a report at the 532nd meeting of the Federation Council and hold a “round table” with the participation of Russian senators. He also has a series of talks planned.
