The issues of building up political, trade-economic, transport-transit and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, as well as the global and regional agenda were discussed today in Ashgabat by Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the press service of the Kazakh leader reported. Let us remind you that the head of Kazakhstan is visiting Turkmenistan on a two-day state visit.
During the face-to-face meeting, Tokayev thanked Berdimuhamedov for the invitation to pay a state visit to Turkmenistan.
He noted that from the first minutes of his stay on the Turkmen land he felt “true hospitality”. According to him, the Kazakh side was very carefully preparing for the visit, including the heads of key departments in the delegation.
- We look forward to giving a serious impetus to the further development of the strategic partnership between our states. The Turkmen people are a brotherly people for us. I am personally involved in the development of strategic partnership, cooperation between our states and I believe that this area of our foreign policy is a priority. During this visit, very important documents will be signed that will determine the field of our cooperation. We, as before, will actively cooperate in the international arena. Kazakhstan has great respect for the neutral status of Turkmenistan, which was once approved by the UN General Assembly, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev for accepting the invitation and visiting Turkmenistan.
- We attach great importance to your state visit. Turkmens and Kazakhs have deep spiritual and historical ties. Therefore, our relationship has always been stable, trusting, said Berdimuhamedov.
In his opinion, the current state visit of the head of Kazakhstan "will undoubtedly give a great impetus to these fraternal and strategic bilateral relations" and will bring them to a new qualitative level.
Stressing that the partnership between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan meets the interests of the well-being of the peoples of the two countries, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the distinguished guest for his personal contribution to strengthening the Turkmen-Kazakh friendship.
