In the format of a videoconference, a meeting was held between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with UN Deputy Secretary General, Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office (UNCTU) Vladimir Voronkov. The Turkmen side, highly appreciating the activities of the UNCTU, expressed its intention to develop cooperation with the Office for the further implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia.

Discussing issues of bilateral and multi-format interaction in the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, the parties considered cooperation in information security and youth issues.

It was noted that Turkmenistan stands for the development of new international legal instruments to counter emerging threats, in particular cybercrime and related challenges to international information security.

The parties emphasized the success of the joint activities of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in the development of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy of Turkmenistan for the Prevention of violent extremism and counter terrorism for 2021-2024, adopted in December 2020 and being successfully implemented at present.

In connection with the International Conference "Politics of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development" held in Ashgabat on December 12, the head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office was invited to participate in it.

This international forum is intended to become the logical conclusion of the large-scale campaign of the International Year of Peace and Confidence, initiated by our country, the source notes.
