Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and China signed a cooperation plan for the next year

The plan of cooperation between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China for 2021-2022 was signed today following political consultations in Ashgabat by Foreign Ministers Rashid Meredov and Wang Yi, who arrived in our country on a two-day official visit.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the constructive conversation, the diplomats noted the positive dynamics of the development of the Turkmen-Chinese relations.

Meredov and Wang Yi stressed that the two countries have prospects for developing contacts in the field of biological and information security, energy, non-resource sectors of the economy, as well as in the spheres of culture, education, science, and healthcare.

The parties exchanged views on international and regional issues. Topical issues of cooperation in the international arena were considered, and the importance of mutual support for initiatives and undertakings on multilateral platforms was noted. The need for building up foreign policy coordination, including on issues of countering the common challenges and threats of our time, was emphasized.

The ministers noted that it is necessary to continue the positive experience of holding regular consultative meetings on a bilateral basis on topical issues of the international agenda - ecology and climate change, human rights and others.

Issues of mutual establishment of cultural centers, organization of Culture Days, exhibitions, film festivals and other creative forums on a regular basis were discussed.

Following the talks, a “Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation”.
