Today, with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the opening ceremony of a complex of road and transport infrastructure facilities, including a road tunnel, underground passages and the “Mahabat” monument, located at the intersection of the Central city highways-Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi and Atamyrat Niyazov avenues, was held in Ashgabat.
After cutting the symbolic ribbon, the President of Turkmenistan was the first to drive through the tunnel that was put into operation, and then along the roundabout, in the center of which the “Mahabat” monument was erected, and opened traffic at the updated intersection of two major highways in the capital.
According to the relevant Decree of the head of state, the design and construction of a road tunnel and four underground pedestrian crossings, including the improvement of the adjacent territory and the laying of utility lines, were entrusted to Turkmen entrepreneurs.
The new Metropolitan complex of road and transport infrastructure facilities is located on a land plot of 4.5 hectares. The total construction area was 44,340. 95 square meters. The length of the underground highway is 350 meters.
In the center of the roundabout over the tunnel at the intersection of S. Turkmenbashi and A. Niyazov avenues, an original structure "Mahabat" is installed, which is a kind of cube with a height and width of 16 meters. Its facets are made in the shape of an Oguzhan star with built-in video screens that will display various advertising and other information. The height of the monumental composition, including a 5-meter pedestal, is 21 meters.
As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov viewed the complex of transport and communication infrastructure facilities that harmoniously fit into the architectural ensemble of this part of the white marble city of Ashgabat, bringing new features to it, He watched the wedding procession pass through the newly commissioned automobile tunnel.
After him, buses with young passengers passed through the tunnel – the children were very pleased to be among the first to ride along the new highway laid under the intersection, along which a stream of cars immediately rushed, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
