Turkmenistan suspends flights to Bangkok and Beijing due to coronavirus outbreak in China

Turkmenistan suspends flights from February 6 to Bangkok and from February 7 to Beijing because of the coronavirus outbreak in China and will take out Turkmen citizens who are there on special flights. This "Turkmenportal" reported today, "the Turkmen airlines".

It is not known for how long flights are suspended. Today, the planes of Turkmenistan Airlines have already departed on schedule to the capitals of Thailand and China and will return to Ashgabat tomorrow morning. The last flights before the cancellation to Bangkok and Beijing, as well as back to the Turkmen capital, will take place on Sunday, February 2.

The resumption of flights to Bangkok and Beijing will be announced later.

The world health organization, following an emergency meeting on Thursday, declared the coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency of international significance.

To date, no cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Turkmenistan.

"Turkmenistan has put a reliable barrier to dangerous infectious diseases," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, holding a working meeting with the participation of Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, hyakims of the velayats and the capital, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, relevant ministries and departments, as well as members of the Emergency Commission to combat the spread of diseases.

According to the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in order to protect the country's territory from the importation and spread of the disease in border areas, control in sanitary and quarantine points and regional sanitary and epidemiological services has been strengthened. People coming from countries where the virus has been detected are also monitored. The country has taken all measures to provide the necessary medicines and medical supplies.
