Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law requiring Russian tourism facilities to ensure barrier-free access for people with disabilities. The document was published on the official legal information portal, RIA Novosti reports.
The procedure for ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities at tourist sites, as well as the scope and content of relevant measures, will be established by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation in agreement with the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation.
According to the law, tourism industry facilities must ensure: independent movement within the premises and entry into buildings; assistance for visually impaired and mobility-impaired individuals, as well as the provision of necessary assistance; proper placement of equipment and storage media for barrier-free access; and the admission of guide dogs.
In addition, near tourist sites, at least 10% of free parking spaces must be allocated for vehicles driven by disabled persons of groups I and II, as well as those transporting them or disabled children.
