The international scientific and practical conference on the topic “The Role of Biotechnology in Sustainable Development of the Agricultural Sector” was held at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute in an online format.
The forum was attended by representatives of 84 higher education institutions and research centers from 14 countries, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
During the plenary session, foreign participants from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Moldova made thematic reports.
The international forum then continued its work in five sections on the following thematic areas:
- “Genetic engineering and selection of agricultural crops”; “Biotechnology in animal husbandry”;
- “Biopesticides and biofertilizers”;
- “Bioremediation and environmental sustainability”;
- “Education and capacity building in the field of biotechnology for agriculture”.
A total of 260 reports were made at the conference, the most relevant of which were noted and discussed at the final meeting of the forum.
As part of the scientific and practical conference, an exhibition of research works in the field of agro-industrial complex was organized at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute.
Following the results of the forum, representatives of the organizing committee noted its role in the development of the agricultural sector on a scientific basis and strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between universities, as well as friendly relations between countries of the world, the source notes.
