Today, November 11, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN and its specialized agencies. Particular attention was paid to climate issues.
The diplomats discussed specific ways of interaction to implement the Roadmap for 2025-2026 to strengthen Turkmenistan's international cooperation to achieve the goals of the Global Methane Commitment. The importance of creating the Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia, initiated by Turkmenistan, was also emphasized.
The parties also discussed preparations for joint events by the end of 2024, as well as plans for 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Peace and Trust on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was held in a constructive manner, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN.
