Within the framework of a working visit to Turkmenistan, a meeting was held between the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The reason for the visit was participation in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi.
The parties discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on current issues on the regional and global agenda. Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic ties, interaction in the energy and transport sectors, as well as cooperation in agriculture and industry.
During the meeting, the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation based on the common spiritual heritage of the two peoples was emphasized. An agreement was reached to continue joint work on organizing Days of
Culture and other creative events, as well as to intensify contacts in the scientific, educational and sports spheres.
President Sadyr Japarov presented a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi in the Kyrgyz language as a symbolic gesture emphasizing the cultural closeness of the two countries.
The meeting ended with a confirmation of the commitment of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to the development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation.
