On Turkmenistan's Independence Day, September 27, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument in Ashgabat.
As reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, early in the morning the head of state arrived at the festively decorated square, where he was greeted by the assembled citizens and soldiers of the Honor Guard.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of Turkmenistan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid a wreath at the memorial plaque at the entrance to the memorial complex, paying tribute to the ancestors who fought for the freedom and independence of the country.
Following the President, flowers were laid at the monument by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as representatives of military and law enforcement agencies, diplomatic missions, public organizations and student youth.
The square in front of the memorial complex was soon covered with a carpet of flowers, the source notes.
