National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Tehran, met with Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei. During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening the centuries-old ties between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, good neighborliness and mutual respect. Ayatollah Khamenei warmly welcomed Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and highly appreciated the dynamic development of relations between the two countries. In turn, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the importance of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, noting that the current visit to Tehran is evidence of the strategic importance of these relations.
The interlocutors expressed their readiness to expand productive interaction in various sectors, including the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which opens up broad prospects for further cooperation.
