The reason was the numerous mistakes and ridiculous orders that she issued.
Customers on social media shared stories of how the AI gave them bacon ice cream instead of regular ice cream, or added 211 USD worth of chicken nuggets to their order.
In one TikTok video, a girl tries to order vanilla ice cream and water, but ends up with several ice creams, ketchup and butter.
Because of such incidents, the company’s management decided to abandon the AI system until the end of July.
“We are ending our relationship with IBM on our automated order taking program”, - McDonald's said. - “The technology will be switched off in all restaurants currently using it no later than July 26, 2024”.
The company believes that AI has the potential to optimize the operation of restaurants, but the technology is not yet ready for full implementation.
