A tourist boat has capsized in Vietnam's Quang Ninh Province, which resulted in the death of 41 people. The incident occurred near Thi Top Island, VietNamNews reports.
There were 47 passengers and 5 crew members on board the ship. Only 10 people have been rescued so far. The identities of 37 victims have already been established, and the identification of four more people is ongoing.
Search operations are underway at the scene to ensure that all victims receive the necessary assistance.
The regional government announced compensation payments to the victims. Families of the deceased will receive 955 USD each, while the injured will receive 340 USD each. Additional payments will be provided by the Quang Ninh Provincial National Front Committee.
In connection with the incident, the Vietnamese government has decided to conduct inspections and strengthen safety measures for navigation in the province.
The causes of the boat crash are currently being determined.
