A member of the ruling dynasty of Saudi Arabia, prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, has died at the age of 35 after spending twenty years in a comatose state caused by a car accident, MIR 24 reports.

The royal, nicknamed the "sleeping prince," was kept on life support for two decades, with occasional rumours of improvement in his condition never confirmed.

The funeral will take place on Sunday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in the kingdom's capital, the official office said through the state agency SPA.

The deceased's father, Khaled bin Talal, confirmed the sad news on social media, noting the family's deep sorrow. Throughout his son's illness, he refused to stop artificial life support, hoping for a miraculous recovery, and regularly posted photos from hospital visits.
