An abandoned town in California is up for sale. They are asking 6,6 million USD for it, reports diasporanews.com with reference to SF Gate.

The town of Campo, located in San Diego County, has only about 150 residents. The sale includes 21 residences and seven commercial buildings, including a post office, lumber yard and consignment store.

Since the early 2000s, the entire town, located about a mile from the Mexican border and an hour east of San Diego, has been owned by one man: Las Vegas investor John Ray.

The city was previously put on the market in 2018 and 2021, but failed to sell. The real estate agent is now looking for buyers among tech startups, CEOs and entrepreneurs.

The city's history goes back to World War II. It was then known as Camp Lockett and served as home to the U.S. Army cavalry. It also housed infantry to guard the southern border and hold Italian prisoners of war.
