In the UK, Meatly has introduced the world's first canned cat food made with lab-grown chicken. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru with reference to the Daily Mail.

The meat is grown from chicken egg cells cultured in special containers. Meatly compares the process to making yogurt or beer, emphasizing the purity and lack of harmful additives.

“There are no unwanted chemicals, bacteria or other nasties in our meat. It is simply pure chicken, making it a healthy and nutritious source of protein and nutrients for pets”, - the company said in a statement.

The new food has not yet been approved by regulatory authorities. Meatly plans to sell it in Pets at Home stores for 1 pound sterling per can.

In 2023, the USDA approved meat grown in a laboratory from chicken cells for the first time.

The approval process lasted seven months, during which the meat underwent rigorous testing. As a result, after confirming the product’s safety for human consumption, it received the green light from all US federal inspections.
