A delegation from Turkmenistan joined the 17th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which takes place from February 27 to March 1 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The delegation included the permanent representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO M. Charyev, the head of the department of intangible cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan J. Kurbanova and the assistant of the Secretariat of the National Commission for UNESCO J. Rematullayeva.
The session discussed measures to implement the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, as well as plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. In addition, the committee approved its work plan for 2024-2025.
Turkmenistan ratified the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in July 2021, thereby reaffirming its commitment to preserving the world's cultural diversity.
