A meeting was held in Yerevan between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan M. Ayazov and the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia K. Giloyan, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of sports within the framework of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding between the relevant departments of the two countries.
K. Giloyan informed that in 2024 the city of Gyumri has been declared the sports capital of the CIS and will host the conference of the Council on Physical Culture and Sports of the Commonwealth countries. In this regard, K. Giloyan was elected Chairman of the Council for the coming year.
M. Ayazov noted that Turkmenistan regularly hosts major international sports competitions, and thanked the Armenian side for the active participation of Armenian athletes in these events.
The parties confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation in the field of sports and continue the exchange of sports delegations.
