On January 25, within the walls of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan a round table was held on the topic “Road map of youth initiatives in the fight against climate change”, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the leadership of the IIR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the country.
Young environmental teachers from universities in Turkmenistan gathered at a round table. They shared concerns about climate change and argued for the need for active youth participation in solving environmental problems.
The panellists agreed that efforts to combat climate change will only be effective with the active participation of the younger generation. According to them, young people have environmental knowledge and are already making a concrete contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.
The result of the discussion was the development of an action plan for the implementation of youth climate initiatives in Turkmenistan. As the panellists emphasized, they are interested in ensuring the well-being of the planet they are about to inherit.
