Turkmenistan and Iran intend to increase trade and economic ties

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Road and Urban Construction of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehrdad Bazrpash. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, the Watan information program reported.

Mehrdad Bazrpash conveyed greetings from the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As the minister noted, Iran attaches great importance to strengthening interaction with Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in turn, conveyed his best wishes to the top leadership and people of Iran. He emphasized that one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is the development of multifaceted cooperation with neighboring countries.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the importance of holding the Iran Prože specialized exhibition and business forum in Ashgabat. These events are designed to facilitate the implementation of the impressive potential existing between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere.

The head of state and the Minister of Road and Urban Construction of Iran emphasized that a special place is given to trade and economic contacts on the agenda of interstate partnership. As noted, Iran occupies one of the leading positions in the foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan.

Among the key vectors of interaction were the fuel and energy complex, the transport and communications sector, construction, and agriculture. At the same time, the parties noted the active nature of contacts between representatives of the private sector.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their conviction that relations between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and long-term sustainability, will continue to develop successfully for the common good.
