A regional seminar on professional ethics for customs officers is being held in Ashgabat

From October 9 to 13, a regional seminar on the development of professional ethics for customs officers in the European region of the World Customs Organization (WCO) is being held in Ashgabat, at the “Archabil” hotel.

The seminar, organized at the initiative of the WCO together with the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and with the support of the Korea Customs Cooperation Foundation, brought together more than 20 customs officers from 14 countries, according to the website of the customs service of Turkmenistan.

The purpose of the seminar is to increase integrity among customs administration officials of member countries of the WCO European Region by raising awareness of the importance of implementing the revised Arusha Declaration.

Representatives of the customs administrations of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Moldova, as well as WCO experts at the regional level discuss the importance of implementing integrity measures and their key role in trade facilitation.

During the workshop, customs administrations from different countries will be able to share their national experiences in implementing transparency and predictability measures and the progress made in implementing the revised Arusha Declaration.
