The new administrative center of Ahal was named Arkadag, Japanese excavators Komatsu arrived in Turkmenistan, more than 500 Christmas trees were installed in Ashgabat by the New Year

1. The new administrative center of the Ahal velayat was named the city of Arkadag. Gulshat Mammedova, Chairman of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh, announced this decision during the off-site meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan. She also clarified that when making a decision, the wishes of the residents of all velayats, as well as proposals from public organizations were taken into account.

2. New excavators of the Komatsu type have been brought to Turkmenistan. Deliveries were made under the General Agreement between the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan and “Itochu Corporation” on the sale and purchase of earthmoving equipment. The power of Komatsu excavators is 168 horsepower, and the productivity is an average of 109 cubic meters per hour.

3. The capital of Turkmenistan was decorated for the New Year holidays. More than 500 Christmas trees appeared in Ashgabat. New Year's mood is also created by light installations and garlands - under almost every tree and arch of multi-colored lanterns, Santa Claus and rabbits look out - a symbol of the coming year.

4. An informal summit of the CIS heads of state will take place on December 26-27 in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev. According to him, the informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries will be held at the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

5. Since 2004, the Turkmen mobile communications company “Altyn Asyr” has been providing the population with mobile communications and Internet services. The company has more than 4 thousand transmitting and receiving stations throughout the country. “Altyn asyr” is working to provide modern services to the population by introducing innovative technologies into the cellular communication system of Turkmenistan.

6. The Asian Development Bank has released a report on the completion of technical assistance in the application of 9 financial instruments of International Financial Reporting Standards in two commercial banks of Turkmenistan – “Rysgal” and “Senegat”.

7. The Turkmen book stand was presented at the Tenth International Exhibition “Book Dushanbe-2022”, which was held in Tajikistan from December 14 to 16. A stand with books about Turkmenistan, decorated in the national style, was organized by the Turkmen Embassy in Tajikistan. The stand introduced the visitors to publications telling about the achievements of Turkmenistan.

8. The “Zero Waste project”, which has been implemented for five years under the patronage of Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has received support at the UN level. From now on, March 30 is declared: “International Zero Waste Day”. In honor of the recognition of Türkiye’s environmental initiative by the world community, the “Zero Waste summit” will be held in Istanbul on December 23 under the leadership of Emine Erdogan.

9. American rapper Snoop Dogg announced his candidacy for the post of head of Twitter to replace Elon Musk. Earlier, Elon Musk held a vote among Twitter users whether he should remain the head of one of the most popular social networks in the world. The voting results turned out to be unoptimistic for him – 57,5% of the users who voted were in favor of him leaving the post of head of Twitter.

All participants of the AFC club tournaments from among the Turkmen clubs have been determined. “Ahal”, “Altyn asyr” and “Merv” next season will take part in club tournaments under the auspices of the Asian Football Confederation upon successful completion of the licensing procedure. The “Ahal” football club will take part in the group stage of the AFC Champions League of the 2023/2024 season as the champion of the country. Vice-champion “Altyn asyr” and bronze medalist “Merv” will represent Turkmenistan in the AFC Cup.

11. At the World Cup in Qatar, 172 goals were scored, among which FIFA selected 10 contenders for the title of the author of the best goal. The list of contenders included Salem Al-Dawsari from Saudi Arabia, Brazilian Richarlison, Enzo Fernandez from Argentina, Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, Brazilian striker Neymar and others.
