Increasing the throughput capacity of “Farab” and “Alat” checkpoints was discussed by the customs officers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan

The issue of increasing the throughput capacity of the “Farab” – “Alat” checkpoints on the Turkmen-Uzbek border became the main topic for negotiations between employees of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan via videoconferencing.

As reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the meeting was held at the initiative of the Uzbek side.

During the talks, the customs officers of the two countries exchanged information on the work of checkpoints and on the prospects for their development. An agreement was reached on holding periodic working meetings in order to promptly resolve issues that arise at the border.

The parties also agreed to start the process of data exchange from January 2023 in accordance with the implementation of the Protocol on the exchange of preliminary information.
