More than half of voters voted in the presidential elections in Turkmenistan

In Turkmenistan, the turnout in the early presidential elections as of 11:00 am local time was 51.05%. A representative of the CEC announced this live on Turkmen television.

Most voters were recorded in the capital - 52.15%, in second place - Dashoguz velayat with an indicator of 51.89%. The Lebap velayat closes the top three in terms of the number of voters who turned up with 51.17%.

In total, 2577 polling stations were opened for voting in the country, 3 million 435 thousand 950 voters were registered. Early elections were held from 2 to 11 March. About 8% of voters took part in them, no violations were recorded.

We remind that voting is taking place in the early presidential elections in Turkmenistan today. Nine people are running for the post of head of state, including Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The Electoral Code does not establish a turnout threshold for recognizing the elections as valid. The winner is the candidate who receives the most votes. As previously reported, the inauguration of the new President will take place on March 19.
