After the laying and ceremonial launch on January 14 of a 153-kilometer power transmission line with an increased voltage of 500 kilovolts along the Kerki – Shibargan route, the possibilities for export deliveries have significantly increased.
Serdar Esenov, leading specialist of the velayat production association “Lebapenergo”, told the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper about this.
“Six years ago in the south of Lebap the largest substation in the velayat “Kerki-500” was put into operation with openwork towers of power transmission lines stretched to and from it. The specialists of the Turkish company “Lotus Enerji” have installed equipment from the world's best manufacturers. A separate line has been laid here through the Karakum desert directly from the Mary hydroelectric power station using various modern construction equipment. From here, electricity was transmitted to neighboring Afghanistan. After the laying of a 153-kilometer transmission line with an increased voltage of 500 kilovolts along the Kerki – Shibargan route, the possibilities for export deliveries have significantly increased. After all, as you know, the higher the voltage in the line, the further you can transmit electricity and the greater the coefficient of its efficiency. Moreover, all the necessary facilities have been erected on the Afghan side to receive the increased volume of Turkmen electricity.
In the future, the power transmission line will be extended to other cities up to the capital. And this means that in a neighboring friendly state it will be possible to develop the economy and social sphere at a higher rate”, the specialist said.
