Today, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with the Governor of the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin in the format of a videoconference at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The interlocutors discussed strategic aspects of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region, which are important in partnership with the Russian Federation. It was noted that considerable experience has been accumulated in various areas of mutual interest.
During the online meeting, special attention was paid to the prospects that their "Maritime status" opens up for both sides. In particular, based on the accumulated positive experience, mutual interest was expressed in the further development of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding. The sides discussed the development of ferry services between the international seaports of Turkmenbashi and Olya.
The Russian side expressed the interest of the largest industrial, energy and shipbuilding enterprises of the Seaside region in building mutually beneficial cooperation with partners of Turkmenistan, both in the framework of existing and in the development of new projects. It was noted that an important role in this direction belongs to the Turkmen-Astrakhan Joint Council on entrepreneurship, whose active work contributes to increasing the productivity of trade and expanding economic ties between representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
The parties also discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the field of trade and exchanged views on the organization of the supply of Turkmen-made goods to Astrakhan and, accordingly, the promotion of Astrakhan products in the market of Turkmenistan.
In addition, R. Meredov and I. Babushkin noted the successful implementation of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region in the field of education, the Turkmen foreign Ministry reports.
