The project of joint construction, ownership and use of fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea were discussed during an online meeting with representatives of the State company of telecommunication "Turkmentelecom" and limited liability AzerTelecom.
It was noted that the implementation of this project, covering the territory along which the Great silk road ran in ancient times, will link the cities of Turkmenbashi and Siyazan, as well as strengthen cooperation in improving telecommunications bridges between Asia and Europe.
Proposals for the implementation of this project, prepared by the Turkmen side, are submitted for consideration and approval on economic, technical and other relevant aspects.
Special attention was paid to the issue of attracting investments in the telecommunications sector, as well as the conditions for joint construction, operation, maintenance, and protection of fiber optic networks were discussed, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
