The national winter sports center of Turkmenistan has been accepted as a member of the international skating Union (ISU). This decision was made by the Congress of the international skating union, which met in Lausanne (Switzerland), the official website of the Ministry of sports and youth policy of Turkmenistan reports.

This action will fully open the way for Turkmen skaters to all competitions of the world and continental level.

The international skating union is the international Federation governing skating sports: figure skating, speed skating, and short track. It is one of the oldest international sports federations. The purpose of creation is to establish uniform rules and regulations for skating sports and to organize international competitions.

The most important factor in the development of winter sports in Turkmenistan was the creation of infrastructure-ice arenas. It all began with the opening of the first Ice Palace in 2006 in Ashgabat, where Turkmen people were drawn to just get on skates, try an exotic hobby. Now there are five ice arenas in the country, in the walls of which you can hold international tournaments.
