Opportunities for further expansion of trade relations, attracting investments and implementation of multilateral economic projects in the region were discussed today in Nur Sultan (Kazakhstan) at a meeting of representatives of Central Asia and the United States.

Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov at the high-level talks "C5+1". The dialogue was attended by the foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, Kyrgyzstan Chingiz of Aidarbekov, Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov. The American side was represented at the meeting by Deputy Secretary of State David Hale.

According to the press service of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, during the dialogue the parties expressed great interest in the joint development of infrastructure and transit and transport potential of Central Asia.

In the field of security, the participants of the meeting discussed in detail a wide range of challenges and threats, the solution of which requires a regional approach. These include the issues of assisting in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, as well as the exchange of experience in the repatriation and rehabilitation of citizens who returned from the war zone in Syria and Iraq.

The C5+1 format is a multilateral mechanism of interaction between the five Central Asian countries and the United States. The main topics of the dialogue are economic development, regional cooperation and security. The first meeting with the participation of the foreign Ministers of the six countries was held on November 1, 2015 in Samarkand.

According to the Turkmen foreign Ministry, today the delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov was received by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the current state of Turkmen-Kazakh relations and noted the importance of developing bilateral relations in a wide range of areas. The President of Kazakhstan noted the high level of the first Caspian economic forum held in the National tourist zone "Avaza" on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was stressed that the forum gave a powerful impetus to the development of international economic cooperation in the Caspian region.
