Turkmenistan’s ice hockey championship for the 2018-2019 season ended with another victory for the Galkan team, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
During the competitions, which started in the fall of last year, the students of Bayram Allayarov did not suffer a single defeat, showing a 100 percent result, thereby securing for themselves the title of the best hockey club in our country for the sixth time in a row. It should be noted that the mentor of the winners is also the head coach of the national team, which is recently sent to the first world championship in its history.
The main struggle unfolded for the silver and bronze awards, which in the course of the last few rounds were claimed by four teams at once - HC Shir, HC Vatanchi, HC Oguzhan and HC Nesil. A desperate and beautiful fight was observed during each match with the participation of these teams. In many fights, it was necessary to determine the best in extra time and even in the shootout series, which, of course, gave a lot of positive emotions to numerous fans in the stands of the Winter Sports Complex and the Galkan Sports Center of the Ministry of the Interior, where the national championship matches were held.
As a result, after the victories won in the last round, the Shira players became the silver medalists, and the Vatanchi team climbed to the third step of the podium. Let us emphasize that the team HC Shir has been coached by Belarus coach Vadim Kaminsky for the second year. But the pupils of Serdar Bayramsahatov from HC Vatanchi literally made a breakthrough in 2017, leaving the number of outsiders and taking one of the leading positions in the national sports arena. This happened due to the infusion of new players into the team. At the awards ceremony the winners and prize-winners of the national championship were awarded and the best players of the tournament. Kerimli Charyev was recognized as the most reliable goalkeeper, Aman Aganiyazov became the best defender, and Dovlet Soyunov became the best striker and scorer. All three are members of not only HC Galkan, but also the national team, where they are also among the best players. For active actions in the course of the championship, Baimurad Baymukhammedov, the HC Shir forward, was noted.
All the athletes listed above were awarded medals and diplomas from the organizers of the competition - the Ice Hockey Federation of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy, as well as prizes from the sponsor - the representative office of the world famous company Dragon Oil.
