From 2026, new rules aimed at ensuring pay transparency and eliminating gender inequality in wages will come into force in the European Union, writes euro-pulse.ru.

According to the new regulations, employees will have the right to request information about the salaries of colleagues performing similar work. This will help identify possible cases of discrimination. Employers will be required to disclose the criteria that affect the amount of wages.

An important change will affect the hiring process: companies will have to indicate the salary range in job postings. Interestingly, only 12,6% of job postings worldwide currently contain such information. At the same time, employers will be prohibited from asking about candidates' previous salaries during interviews.

Eurostat statistics show that women currently earn on average 13% less per hour of work than men. This gap is expected to be reduced to 5% by 2026 thanks to new measures.
