Muesli and breakfast cereals

Despite their reputation as health food, muesli and cereal often contain excess sugar. These fast carbohydrates cause sharp fluctuations in blood glucose levels. As a result, an hour after eating, the feeling of hunger appears again.

Bakery

Croissants, buns and cakes are not the best choice to start the day. The main ingredients of such baked goods - flour, sugar and trans fats - do not benefit the body. These foods are also fast carbohydrates that cause spikes in blood sugar.

Freshly squeezed juices and fruit smoothies

Fruit juices and smoothies contain excessive amounts of fructose without fiber. The liver can process only a limited amount of fructose, and the excess is converted into fat. The best alternative is a smoothie made from greens and berries with the addition of banana or avocado.

Semolina

Although many porridges are healthy, semolina porridge is an exception. It contains few vitamins and fiber, but many calories. A rapid increase in blood glucose levels after eating semolina can lead to weight gain and the development of insulin resistance.

No breakfast

Skipping breakfast is the worst option of all. Even a not-so-healthy breakfast is better than no breakfast. Coffee or tea on an empty stomach cannot be considered a complete breakfast, as it stimulates the production of gastric juice without providing food for digestion.
