Members of the environmental movement Futuro Vegetal held a protest at the home of football player Lionel Messi on the island of Ibiza. Activists used black and red paint to deface the building's façade. Information about this appeared on the organization’s social networks, snob.ru reports.
Protesters claim that the mansion, purchased by Messi in 2022 from a Swiss businessman for 11 million euros, was built in violation of the law. During the rally, two participants unfurled a banner with the slogan “Save the planet – eat the rich, abolish the police.”
Futuro Vegetal, a group composed primarily of lawyers and scientists founded in 2022, fights climate change through civil disobedience and nonviolent action. They argue that the world's richest 1% of people produce as much carbon dioxide emissions as the poorest two-thirds of the world's population.
