Scientist Hashem Al-Ghaili presented the concept of a “prison of the future” that can transform the penal system. The new method can reduce the imprisonment time to several minutes, reports snob.ru with reference to the Daily Mail.

The project, called Cognify, involves implanting synthetic memories of the crime committed into the brain of a convicted person. The peculiarity of the method is that these memories are generated from the position of the victim, which, according to the author, should provide a long-term therapeutic effect.

Cognify's technology uses artificial intelligence to create life-like synthetic memories. These memories will be formed in real time and adapted to the individual characteristics of the offender and the severity of the act committed.

Thus, the rehabilitation process, which objectively takes a few minutes, will be subjectively perceived as years for the criminal.

The system includes a virtual reality headset-like device that will reproduce AI-generated crime scenes. Combined with a brain implant that induces feelings of remorse and regret, this technology will provide a deep emotional rethinking of the crime committed.

Al-Ghaili believes that this innovative method of rehabilitation will not only significantly reduce prison sentences, but will also increase the effectiveness of correction of criminals by creating lasting memories of the crime and inducing sincere remorse.
