1,7 million USD is the price of a beautiful number “20” license plate recently sold at auction in Australia. Motor.ru reports this with reference to Carscoops.
This example, originally from Victoria (as evidenced by the VIC abbreviation on the plate), has become a real treasure for collectors.
It is worth noting that in Australia the market for “beautiful” license plates has been thriving for a long time. Particularly valuable are copies produced more than a century ago.
According to the publication Carscoops, it was the rarity and historical significance that determined such a high price for the lot.
It is important to note that 1,7 million USD is far from a record for Australian auctions. Previously, in New South Wales, 8 million USD was paid for the first license plate with the number “1” in 1910.
