Bette Nash, a flight attendant who spent nearly 70 years serving the skies, has died at the age of 88.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague Bette Nash, American Airlines' longest-serving flight attendant”, - read a memo distributed to flight attendants.

The flight attendant died on May 17 in a hospice. She was previously diagnosed with breast cancer.

Bette Nash began her aviation career at age 21, becoming a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, the predecessor of American Airlines. She tried to choose flights from Washington to Boston so she could be home every evening with her son, who has Down syndrome.

In 2022, Bette Nash was awarded the Guinness World Record for being the oldest flight attendant in the world. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru with reference to ABC News.
