On April 12 in Ashgabat, on the territory of the Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the bust of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin will take place.
This event is dedicated to the celebration of Cosmonautics Day and the International Day of the first human flight into space.
The ceremony will begin at 15:30 local time at the address: Saparmurat Turkmenbashy Avenue, 11 (entrance from the 1st park).

The monument to Yuri Gagarin in Ashgabat was inaugurated in April 2021. The bronze bust, created by sculptor Alexei Leonov, depicts the smiling space age pioneer in a spacesuit.
International Aviation and Cosmonautics Day is celebrated annually on April 12 to commemorate the first human flight into space in world history, accomplished by Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961.
In addition to the flower laying ceremony, the following events are also planned as part of the celebration of Cosmonautics Day in Ashgabat:
- 14:00 screening of the documentary “How I became an astronaut”;
- 16:00 intellectual quiz and Star Dictation;
- 18:30 screening of the feature film “Challenge”.
