In pursuit of practical applications of quantum computing, Google and the XPRIZE Foundation are joining forces with an ambitious competition. Ferra.ru reports this with reference to New Scientist.
The 5 million USD prize fund will be distributed to teams that can demonstrate:
- development of new quantum algorithms that solve real problems.
- practical application of existing quantum algorithms to current problems.
The competition will last three years, encouraging scientists to move from theoretical quantum computing to real-world solutions.
