Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova accepted credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation Thomas Staehli, TDH reports.
The head of the national parliament congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible position, sincerely wishing him success in the noble mission to further strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for the further development of bilateral relations. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Switzerland hold similar views on many pressing international issues, in particular, they advocate strengthening peace and security. This creates a good basis for fruitful cooperation.
Particular emphasis was placed on the state policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, within the framework of which the construction of comfortable residential buildings, modern kindergartens, schools, medical and scientific centers, and the largest sports and cultural facilities in the region is being carried out at an intensive pace throughout the country.
The diplomat was also informed about the most significant projects of national and international importance that are being successfully implemented in Turkmenistan. A separate topic of discussion was the possibility of intensifying interparliamentary relations.
