A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister Ahmed Kurbanov and Ambassador of Tajikistan Vafo Niyatbekzoda, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
At the meeting, prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
The parties positively assessed the results of the May visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tajikistan, who confirmed his commitment to further strengthening relations between the countries.
Particular attention was paid to the state of trade and economic relations. The need to increase trade turnover was noted. The progress in implementing the decisions of the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which took place in November 2023 in Dushanbe, was considered.
Diplomats emphasized the importance of continuing close ties in the humanitarian sphere. In this context, the need to regularly hold the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in Ashgabat and Dushanbe was noted.
The prospects for further interaction between the parliaments of the two countries and the exchange of visits of parliamentarians were also discussed.
