Canada is taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. From 2035, the country will ban the sale of passenger cars running on gasoline or diesel. They will be replaced by electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. This was reported by “MIR 24” with reference to CBS News.

Canada plans to implement this plan in stages. In 2026, the market share of environmentally friendly cars should be 20%, in 2027 - 25%, in 2028 - 34%, in 2029 - 43%, and in 2030 - 60%. By 2035, the share of such cars should reach 100%.

The changes will affect not only cars, but also SUVs and pickups. In addition, residential buildings built after 2025 will have additional capacity to accommodate charging stations.

Canada will also support automakers that exceed their green vehicle sales targets.
