Officials of Turkmenistan and Iran signed documents aimed at implementing projects in the electricity sector and road construction following the results of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation, TDH reports.
The parties signed:
• Framework agreement between the State Electric Power Corporation Turkmenenergo, the Tawanir company and the Sanergy Pishro Export and Energy Promotion company to arrange financing for the Turkmen part of the Mary (Turkmenistan) - Mashhad (Iran) power transmission line;
• Memorandum of cooperation between the State Agency for the Management of Highway Construction and the Ministry of Road and Urban Construction of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the construction of the Gumdag-Etrek-Iranian Border highway.
The signing of these documents is an important step in the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects that will increase the export of electricity from Turkmenistan to Iran and will contribute to the development of transport links between the countries.
In addition to the mentioned documents, the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission also signed the Protocol of the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
