Representatives of Turkmen customs took part in the CAREC seminar in Seoul

Two representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in the Regional Workshop on Cross-Border Digital Trade for Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program Countries, which was held in Seoul from November 12 to 14.

As reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the event was held within the framework of the ADB Project “Better Customs for Better Customer Service in Central Asia”, aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth and supporting the readiness of CAREC countries to comply with existing commitments to simplify international trade procedures, such as the Agreement on Cross-Border Paperless Trade, Risk Management, the

Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program and new or changing requirements.

During the training, Korean experts shared their experience in implementing new digital technologies and modernizing borders in terms of working with large data flows.

A methodology for conducting a feasibility study for cross-border paperless trade was presented, including identifying gaps in the digital trade ecosystem.

The workshop participants also discussed the basic principles of cross-border digital trade to raise awareness in establishing an implementation framework, including strategic activities to optimize customs control and facilitate the flow of global trade between Korea and interested CAREC countries, the source said.
